Yes! Laser hair removal is permanent. The laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin where it is absorbed by
the melanin (color) in your hair. Upon absorption, the laser energy is transformed into heat and disables the hair follicle from further growth. There are three stages of hair growth:
- Anagen —active phase
- Catagen—transitional phase where hair is beginning to pull away from the follicle and
- Telogen—resting phase when hairs begin to shed.
Laser hair removal is effective only during the Anagen phase. With each hair removal treatment, approximately 20%-30% of the hair should fall out. At A Beautiful You Medical Spa we have learned over the 15 years the best time to treat you and when you hair is in it’s Anagen phase.
